The University of Southern Maine's (USM's) Ci2 Studio is in the first wave, nationwide, to receive a developer license for Microsoft's augmented reality headset, the HoloLens. This technology blends the real world and the virtual world until they seem to operate in the same place.

USM researcher makes strides on opioid crisis
 
USM's John Gale works as a research associate for the Cutler Institute of Health and Social Policy in the Muskie School of Public Service. At a recent three-day meeting in Vienna, he addressed the Prevention, Treatment and Rehabilitation Section of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime.

USM shortstop headed to Chicago White Sox
 
Congratulations to standout shortstop Sam Dexter '16, a two-time NCAA Division III All-American, who has been drafted to the Chicago White Sox. Dexter is the first USM player to be drafted since 2009, and the 12th USM player to be drafted since 1987.
