Tony Award winner Leslie Odom Jr. offers advice
Leslie Odom Jr., a Tony Award winner for his role as Aaron Burr in the musical phenomenon Hamilton, surprised students from the University of Southern Maine (USM) School of Music when he overheard them rehearsing. He listened to their performance of "Alexander Hamilton," and advised them to treat Gershwin "as if it were Hamilton."

Speakers discuss intersection of race and bioethics
Henrietta Lacks was a poor, black tobacco farmer whose cells, taken without her permission in 1951, have since become one of the most important tools in medicine. Two of her descendants discussed the bioethical concerns of informed consent and racial disparity in the healthcare industry during a presentation at USM.

Senior Veronica Druchniak, one of Maine State Ballet's principal dancers, reprised a role from 2013 as the title character in their performance of The Little Mermaid. By attending USM, Veronica has been able to maintain her dancing while earning her degree in mathematics.

A team from the Muskie School of Public Service has completed a plan titled "Greater Portland Tomorrow: Choices for Sustained Prosperity" to help Greater Portland thrive by improving aging infrastructure, coordinating regional organizations, and re-focusing an aging and shrinking workforce.
