Meet USM's New President
The University of Southern Maine (USM) community is excited to welcome Dr. Harvey Kesselman, Ed.D., as our 13th president. Dr. Kesselman comes to us from Stockton University in New Jersey, where he served most recently as Dean and Professor of Education. Honoring Maine's Fallen Heroes
USM students, faculty, and staff teamed up with the Summit Project to honor Maine veterans who died in Iraq and Afghanistan. Marching 6.5 miles through Portland, they carried stones engraved with the name of a fallen Maine veteran, including one for USM's own Army SPC Christopher Gelineau, a former student. Read more.

Catch Me If You Can: The Musical
"High-kicking stewardesses, jazzy nurses and dancing doctors" were all part of the fun this month as USM theatre and music students presented Catch Me If You Can, the true-life story of world-class con artist Frank Abagnale Jr. and his FBI pursuer Carl Hanratty. Read more.

Art, Identity, and Our Multicultural Community
This semester, students are collaborating with artist-in-residence Traci Molloy to support Maine's youngest newcomers through community-based art. Working with the Center for Grieving Children's Multicultural Peer Support Program, USM students are helping kids find common meaning through non-verbal expression. Read more.

Two USM Seniors win Broadcasters Award
"Find where your passion lies...and then go all in!" That's the advice of Cathlin Smith, one of two Media Studies majors to receive the 2015 Maine Association of Broadcasters Award. Cathlin and fellow award winner Julia Giancola both took full advantage of internships and other hands-on experiences at USM. Read more.
